All smiles on the bus for Day 1!!!

About an hour into our bus ride we had our first stop at the South Carolina Rest Area. Then we had lunch on the bus. It consisted of ham and cheese sandwiches. Some sandwiches even had the plastic still on the cheese. Oops… We think the counselors may have done it on purpose, we aren’t quite sure… Grant put everything on his, including cookies, chips, cheese, ham, and bread. After that we stopped again at our first Flying J for a quick bathroom/snack break. We quickly learned that bathroom lines are a good place to make friends!!!

Miss America enjoying our fabulous sandwiches for lunch!

After the Flying J, we all loaded back onto the vans and buses and headed back onto the road for everyone’s favorite place…WALMART! On the way, the bus began speed dating and meeting all of our new best friends.

Logan Mantooth thought it was funny that Jon forgot his towel!!!

When we arrived at our first Wal-Mart of the trip those of us who forgot watches bought those, Frozen and Minion ones of course. We also stocked up on candy and plenty of other sugary snacks to keep our energy up since everyone was starting to get tired.

Many of us on the Carolina Girl van enjoyed some queso and a party bag of Tostito chips. After a short drive to LaGrange College, we sat for a hilarious presentation about the state of Georgia given by Ian Stines and an informative presentation on the college by Richard Fernandez; followed by a more thorough introduction of the college by the president of LaGrange College, Dr. Dan McAlexander.

Jenna Bright giving Dr. Alexander a gift from TWB to thank him for always letting us stay here and being so kind!!

We are having burgers and cheeseburgers for dinner today with chips as the side and WATERMELON, thanks to Cody Haigler!! For dessert, we had Great Value Chocolate Chip Cookies…. almost like grandmas. YUM!!!

Each group also designated a tent representative that will be the leader of each group for pitching a tent if the weather ever makes us!!! We hope we won't have to pitch them at all!

Jon Alliss leading the tent representatives to make sure their tent pitching skills are top notch!

Following dinner a lot of people participated in a watermelon-eating contest, without using your hands!! You can only use your mouth and face, which Cole Frederick and Jenna Bright won!!

Jenna Bright, the winner of the girls watermelon-eating contest!

We played relay games after dinner, which were pretty intense. In the relay, it started with a group member spun around a golf club three times and then hit a jug with a golf club around the cone. In the second leg of the relay, each member ran with a Ping-Pong ball on a spoon. After that we did a fireman’s carry and an over and under Snack Pack chocolate pudding relay. The Dopey group was victorious followed by the Happys and then the Bashfuls!! Everyone is super competitive!!!

A large group of us lined up for an individual footrace but no one could match the speed of Blessid Snow and Felipé Moda!!! They were crazy fast!

After the footrace, we gathered in the field and had a heartwarming sing-along. Everyone loved Party in the USA, as it resulted in a dance party!!

Party in the USA DANCE PARTY!!!

It was a slow day today, but that was expected because it is only Day 1! Sadly, we’ve been deprived of naptime while on the bus, but tonight we definitely sleeping well, if the train doesn’t wake us up every hour... We got lucky with the weather! It rained all around us but we stayed completely dry! Woohoo, this means no tents tonight!!

Nick Richard, a Bashful, having some fun to make sure we have some cool pictures for the blog!

We are super excited to head to Auburn University and New Orleans!!!!
